Nicola Verlato is an Italian painter, sculptor, architect, and musician born in Verona on February 19, 1965. Between the ages of nine and fourteen, he studied painting under the guidance of an elderly friar in a monastery. He later pursued studies in lute performance and composition at the Conservatories of Verona and Padua, before earning a degree in Architecture from the University of Venice. Throughout his career, Verlato has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, including the Italian Pavilion at the 53rd Venice Biennale (2009), the Prague and Tirana Biennials (2001, 2003, and 2004), and the Rome Quadriennale (1996 and 2008). His work has been exhibited at major institutions such as the Royal Palace of Milan, PAC Milan, MART Museum, the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Finnish National Gallery in Helsinki, Toronto’s Nuit Blanche, the Akron Art Museum, White Columns in New York, the National Roman Museum at the Baths of Diocletian, and the National Museum of Matera – Palazzo Lanfranchi. His works are included in the collections of MART in Rovereto, the George Lucas Museum in Los Angeles, and MUSAC in Salamanca. After living for fourteen years in Venice, seven years in Milan, seven years in New York, and seven years in Los Angeles, he currently resides in Rome.
