Russo Gallery is pleased to present Notti Bianche, a solo exhibition by Tommaso Ottieri, offering a journey through cities, interiors, and suspended landscapes, where light and shadow engage in a dialogue with a silence rich in meaning, transforming everyday perception into a poetic vision. The exhibition’s title refers to the novel by Fëdor Dostoevskij and to the figure of the “dreamer”, able to pass through reality retreating into a heightened inner dimension, attentive to the finest details, and to the subtle Ottieri’s affinity with this type of dreamer who «is able to create and reveal intervening seamlessly in the production flow. When this happens, it is so natural to cause a loss of full awareness of what was seen, studied and remembered and what was imagined». The exhibition explores how Ottieri, in his painting practice, make memory, perception, and invention coexist. His domestic interiors, suspended chandeliers, cities and dreamlike clearings seem to arise from the “shatters” evoked by Dostoevskij, recomposed with sensitivity and personal vision. Le Notti Bianche invites viewers to move through the landscapes of imagination with the awareness of the dreamer, where the memory coexist with the invention and the ordinary is transfigured in visual poetry. His cities and interiors, even though rooted in the tangible reality, are filled with a suspended depth, between sensory experience and aesthetic reflection. The exhibition path includes the artist’s most recent works, where the cities and interiors become charged with a suspended depth, floating between reality and imagination, memory and invention, stillness and energy. Le Notti Bianche proposes a reflection on perception, on the illusion of light and shade and on the ability of art to capture the essence of human experience, reinstating a contemplative and poetic dimension within time and vision.
